onn. 8" Tablet (2024 Edition) Review

Image
Disclaimer: This review was written using the onn. 8" tablet (2024) itself. I've been using the onn. 8" tablet (2024) from Walmart for a few weeks now, and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by what it offers for its price point. As someone who's always on the hunt for budget-friendly tech, this tablet has become my daily driver for a variety of tasks. Image from Walmart Design and Build The tablet feels surprisingly sturdy for a budget device. It's lightweight and easy to hold, making it perfect for reading, browsing, or watching videos on the go. The 8-inch screen is a good size for portability, and while the bezels aren't the smallest, they don't detract from the overall experience. Performance and Battery Under the hood, the tablet isn't a powerhouse, but it handles everyday tasks with ease. I've been able to browse the web, check emails, stream videos, and even do some light gaming without any major hiccups. The Android operating syst...

2Boom Truly Wireless Earbuds: Dollar Tree Tech Review

Image
Dollar Tree – the land of greeting cards, party favors, and unexpected snacks. But tech gadgets? Under $20? It seems unbelievable, yet here we are, with the 2Boom TWS602 earbuds for a mere $5.00. Could this be the steal of the century, or are these buds better left on the shelf? As a music lover with a decent ear for quality, I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I know what sounds good. And while these earbuds aren't audiophile-grade, let's just say I was pleasantly surprised. Image from pOp Shelf Surprisingly Decent Sound Of course, they're $5.00 – so what did I expect? But hold your judgment. While far from perfect, the 2Boom TWS602s (let's just call them "2Booms" for short) offer a surprisingly full and crisp sound. They do get a bit tinny at higher volumes, but they can get so loud that you probably shouldn't be cranking them up that high anyway. Just be aware that the sound bleed is pretty noticeable – your friends and family might get an im...

TCL A30 Review

Image
In the ever-growing world of budget smartphones, finding a reliable device for under $100 is a challenge. But a couple of years ago, I stumbled upon the TCL A30 and was pleasantly surprised. TCL, known for its high-quality TVs, seemed to be extending its expertise to the mobile market. Now, after two years of using the A30 as my daily driver, it's time for an honest assessment. Image taken from TCL's website. Specs at a Glance: Display: 5.5-inch TFT LCD Cameras: 8MP rear, 5MP front Processor: Mediatek Helio P22 RAM: 3GB Storage: 32GB (expandable) Software: Android 11 Battery: 3000 mAh Other: Headphone jack, removable battery The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Display: The A30's screen is a mixed bag. Colors are vibrant, and viewing angles are decent for a TFT panel, but it struggles in sunlight. Indoor visibility is fine, but if you're often outdoors, this might be a dealbreaker. Performance: Surprisingly, the A30 handles most tasks smoothly. Don't expect to juggle...

Heya! Welcome to my blog!

Hello, my name is Nate and I LOVE budget tech! I worked in many phone stores from AT&T to Metro by T-Mobile and after all that time, I fell in love with the cheap phones and headphones that those stores sold. I worked a lot with the more expensive phones, your iPhone 11s and Galaxy S20s, and while I thought they were great, they just didn't tick the most important box for me: the price. Phones have become expensive these days, and it's not just those! Laptops, headphones, battery packs, smart watches, etc. They've all become too expensive! Or have they? Cheap tech is hard to find, and often times sketchy as hell, but when you find the diamond in the rough it makes it all worth it! I put a lot of effort into the research I do on all my tech to make sure it's as private, safe, and fun so all you have to do is use it and enjoy. So stick around and come back to see what's new!
